Help Center - Surveys

The getting started section describes how to get up a survey and running using FeedbackRiver. More of your questions are answered below.

There are currently four different types of surveys with more coming soon.

  • Simple Survey - a basic survey.
  • 360 Degree Feedback Survey - where you nominate people to rate the strengths of each person under review in various categories.
  • Customer Satisfaction Survey - targetted towards your customers with the aim of assessing their satisfaction levels.
  • Employee Satisfaction Survey - questions are targetted towards members of your organisation with the aim of assessing happiness and of asking for suggestions.

360 Degree Surveys are always delivered to those people who have been asked for feedback via email. All other survey types can be delivered via:

  • Hyperlink - a link which can be copied and distributed in any manner you like.
  • Email - recipients of the email will receive an email which contains a link to the survey. You can edit the subject, message body, width and border color of the email which is sent out.
  • Website Embed Survey - the full survey can be embedded in your own website. You can adjust the height, width and border color of the embedded survey. You will be given the HTML code to use on your website once you have started the survey.
  • Website Popup Survey - the full survey will be displayed as a popup on your own website. You can adjust the height, width and border color of the popup survey. You will be given the HTML code to use on your website once you have started the survey.
  • Website Popup Invite - an invite to take part in the survey will be displayed as a popup on your own website. You can adjust the height, width and border color of the invitation. You will be given the HTML code to use on your website once you have started the survey.

The question library is a pre-defined library of questions which you can import into your general surveys. Once you have added question you can then amend it to suit your needs.

General surveys can have the following types of questions added:

  • Comments box - a text box for users to enter any comments they may have. You can configure how many rows the box has.
  • Date Field - where users can select a date as their answer to this question.
  • Drop Down List - a list of possible answers where the user can select only one from a drop down. The first line of the drop down contains instructions, e.g. "Please select", etc. You can then configure whichever options you want the user to be able to select.
  • Multi-line Textbox - a text box for users to enter their answer. You can configure how many rows the text box has.
  • Multiple Choice (Multiple Answers) - where the user is presented multiple options and can select one or more answers. You can configure the options the user is shown.
  • Multiple Choice (Single Answer) - where the user is presented multiple options and can only select one answer. You can configure the options the user is shown.
  • One Line Textbox - a single line text box where users can enter their answer.
  • Rating Scale - a scale with between 1 and 10 possible ratings for users to score their answer.

Yes. When creating a general survey then you can preview the questions when configuring the questions in the survey. This is step 2 of the survey creation.

When you add a embedded or popup survey delivery type (step 3 of the survey creation process) then you will also be able to preview what the survey looks like.

When you are at the final stage of creating a survey then you will have the option to preview the custom thank you page - available to paid for subscriptions.

Unfortunately not. Once you have started a survey then you will not be able to amend it at all. This is so that you get consistency in your answers.

Once you are done with a survey you can either delete it or archive it. Deleting the survey will remove all reference to this survey and so this feature should be used sparingly! Once deleted you cannot undo the deletion. Archiving the survey will ensure it is still available in your reporting section.

You can view the list of your surveys by clicking here or selecting "Manage Surveys" from the Surveys menu.

Active surveys are surveys which have not yet been closed.
