Getting Started With General Surveys

General surveys include survey types such as simple surveys, customer satisfaction surveys or employee satisfaction surveys. All our surveys are anonymous by design so that people feel comfortable giving their honest opinion, safe in the knowledge that there can be no come back.

You can create a general survey by clicking here or selecting "Create Survey" from the main menu. General surveys work differently to 360 degree surveys.

  • Enter the name you want to give your survey.
  • Select the survey type.
  • Enter the start date and / or end date if you want to. If you enter a start date then people will be prevented from giving feedback until this date. If you enter an end date then people will no longer be able to give feedback after this date.
  • Provide a brief set of instructions which will appear at the top of the survey.
  • Organisations with paid accounts can limit the number of responses and customise the thank you page that people see after they have given feedback.

You can add questions by clicking on "Add Question" or by importing questions from the Question Library.

Questions in the question library are specific to the survey type. You can edit a quetion once you have imported a question from the library.

You can change the order in which surveys appear in your survey by clicking the "Move Up" or "Move Down" buttons.

Remove a question from the survey by clicking on the red delete question button. Organisations with paid subscriptions have the option to use skip logic in questions and also to make questions mandatory in a survey.

Yes. Simply click "Preview Questions" once you have added all the question you would like in the survey.

The preview will use the font selected in your organisation's settings. This font can be changed by clicking here.

The preview will also use any logo which has been configured for your organisation as well as the intro text which is configured on the create survey page.

There are five possible ways in which your general survey can be sent out or distributed:

  • Hyperlink - a link which can be copied and distributed in any manner you like.
  • Email - recipients of the email will receive an email which contains a link to the survey. You can edit the subject, message body, width and border color of the email which is sent out.
  • Website Embed Survey - the full survey can be embedded in your own website. You can adjust the height, width and border color of the embedded survey. You will be given the HTML code to use on your website once you have started the survey.
  • Website Popup Survey - the full survey will be displayed as a popup on your own website. You can adjust the height, width and border color of the popup survey. You will be given the HTML code to use on your website once you have started the survey.
  • Website Popup Invite - an invite to take part in the survey will be displayed as a popup on your own website. You can adjust the height, width and border color of the invitation. You will be given the HTML code to use on your website once you have started the survey.

This final step gives you chance to check you have setup your survey correctly before sending it.

You can save your survey without sending it and return later.

When you are happy then press "Open The Survey" to start the survey.

Once sent you cannot amend the survey so it's important to check the settings at this stage.

You can see a list of all your active surveys by clicking here.

Simply click on the survey and you will be taken to the survey progress page.
